Although my host machine has full connectivity, including IPv6, the tests are run under qemu. The qemu virtual machine has a default nic available, but there is nothing in the test-bed set-up to initialize anything. No ifconfig or anything else, so the tests are basically running in isolation. It seems to me that this is an entirely reasonable setup, and that the tests ought not to depend on a connection to the internet.
