That makes sense. BUT: currently our users of double-double have no
interest in pi, or square root, or any transcendentals; and o. 11 c. 2
is not so wordy for writing 2pi; so I suggest deferring action.

course, the change would take effort, but 1p1 and 1x1 are already
somewhat niche and people who really need the speed would still have

Though there might also be an issue with dll calls? Hopefully that
falls out in the wash.
