Subject:        Problem Checking-In a File, perhaps due to White Space Changes

Hi Rob, Fellow SJ Users,

I am experiencing a problem checking-in a plain test source file.

The following error dialog is shown:

[original bmp image deleted]

Everything else in SJ is working fine; the problem is only seen when attempting to check in this one file.

I have a theory as to why: there are significant white space changes as well as real code changes in the file. I believe the white space changes may be causing the problem. Basically as well as making normal code changes in the file I also did "Trim Trailing Spaces" and "Tabs to Spaces" operations (from UltraEdit) on it.

To check this theory, I have attempted to check-in a version of the file which differs from the archived version by only a couple of characters. It checked-in okay, so there does not appear to be a problem with the archive itself.

Also, performing a View Differences with the suspect file also fails. No error messages, just no Diff window appearing.

Rob, I am forwarding direct to your Yahoo account the current archive version and the version I am attempting to check-in of the file in question.

Best regards,

James
