Immigration offices to be opened in all the 10 states
Wednesday, 11 January 2012 19:45 South Sudan >>> .The Deputy
Minister of Interior Salva Mathok has announced plans for immigration
offices to be opened in all the 10 states to enable residents across
the country to obtain national identity cards and passports.

Most citizens have been arguing that decentralizing the administrative
process to obtain the national documents will lessen the burden on the
central government in Juba and weed out foreigners seeking such
documents since the states know their people better.

Speaking to Radio Miraya on Wednesday, Mathok said spreading the
immigration offices across the 10 states would enable people to
acquire their doucments faster.

The minister also said his ministry is strengthening measures to
regulate the entrance of foreigners into the country, saying illegal
entrance of foreigners in the country had increased crime rate in the
new nation.

Mathok said the interior ministry is nonetheless continuing its
humanitarian support of refugees and establishing a camp to
accommodate the Darfuri refugees in the country.

"If you are a foreigner, we are going to tell you to go to the refugee
camp that we are going to establish. If you are a political migrant or
whatever, we will consider you on those lines," said Mathok.
