Speaking to Radio Miraya in Bor on Thursday, Chan, who visited the scene on Wednesday, said the death toll may rise as thousands of people have been displaced following the attack on Monday night. "The big number of dead people categorized as follows: adult males, 48, adult females, 26, number of children, nine and total number is 83," said Chan. "The number of injured is 34, 83 people dead and the number will rise more than this because many people found dead in the forests and the big number of missing is considered either dead or sometimes to be found," the legislator added. However, the Head of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Hilde F. Johnson in a press conference on Thursday in Juba urged the public not to jump to conclusions based unverified figures of causalities and dead in such attacks. "I urge leaders and the public to avoid jumping to conclusions based on unverified figures. Our human rights team is working on this and I am documenting human rights violations in the wake of the attacks and counter attacks," Johnson warned. The National Ministry of Health says it is providing medicines and surgical equipment to treat the people injured in the Duk Padiet attack. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
