Church offers to take charge of mobilization for peace talks
Saturday, 21 January 2012 13:38 South Sudan >>> .The Sudan Council
of Churches' Peace Initiative has offered to take charge of the
mobilization process of the warring communities in Jonglei State,
South Sudan at the peace and reconciliation talks.

The Chairman of the Council, Archbishop Daniel Deng Bull of the
Episcopal Church of Sudan, disclosed this to the press in Juba on
Friday.

"Various committees from the churches will be formed because we want
to take over what we call mobilization on the ground. Especially at
this time, we will form committees from the different churches to go
to the ground and be with the people in the ground," Bishop Deng said.

"This is going to be a long process; we are going to engage in long
term solution for peace dividends, peace mobilization and peace
building until we are convinced of the hearts of our communities so
that they are brought to the table together," the bishop explained.

The Bishop expressed deep regrets over the deplorable ethically based
violence in Jonglei state that has claimed scores of lives of people
and 150,000 displaced, requiring urgent assistance according to the
United Nations.
