Thursday, 15 March 2012 06:29

The national minister for higher education has pledged to work hard to
provide quality instruction in the public universities of South Sudan.

Minister Peter Adwok Nyaba told the press yesterday in Juba that his
ministry’s strategic plan is to transform the Sudan Ingas quantity
system of education into quality education to achieve excellence and
social relevance of higher education.

Dr Adwok explained that national development could be achieved through
educated citizens.

He said the transformation in the public universities will be done
through the introduction of a well studied academic curriculum.

South Sudan has five public universities: Juba, Bahr el Ghazal,
Rumbek, Upper Nile and Science and Technology in Bor.

Dr Adwok said many university structures are in a very poor state but
the Government will build in the next five years some modern
facilities.

He added that the ministry of higher education will also arrest the
shortage of lecturers and teaching materials.
