Archbishop Bul ready to quit peace mediation chair

Tuesday, 13 March 2012 09:57 South Sudan >>> .The Archbishop of the
Episcopal Church of the Sudan, Daniel Deng Bul says he is ready to
quit mediation role over the inter-communal killings in Jonglei State
after Murle community asked him to step aside.

Bishop Bul told Radio Miraya on Tuesday that he will present his
position to the President for further action.

"I have no bad feelings about what they have said. I can go to the
President and tell him that as far as the Murle community doesn't want
me, I will not impose myself to become a chairman so it will be up to
the President, but I am ready to quit," he said.

President Salva Kiir recently appointed Bishop Bul as the chairman of
a High Level Committee to work for peace; reconciliation and tolerance
in Jonglei State to end the tribal clashes.

Earlier Pastor Abraham Korok of the Presbyterian Church in Pibor town
said that Bishop Daniel Deng be replaced with Bishop Parade Taban for
the reconciliation process to succeed.

In recent inter-communal attack on Akobo, 120,000 people have been
reportedly displaced and scores killed.
