Destruction of Konyo-Konyo Market bites hard
Wednesday, 14 March 2012 08:14 Economy >>> .The destruction of 700
shops by the mysterious fire last week is beginning to bite hard to
both consumers and the Kator Payam administration.

The director of Kator Payam in Juba, Francis Taban Henry says the
destruction will have huge impact on revenue collection.

Taban says Kator Payam will lose thousands of pounds since Konyo-Konyo
market is the main source of revenue, until all the shops are rebuilt.

"It is going to affect us very much, because it was the biggest
market, the main source of our revenue and I think as you can see how
the market looks like, the whole market is now destroyed. We will not
be able to collect any revenue may be until the market is rebuilt," he
said.

According to Taban, Kator Payam used to collect up to SSP 50,000 a week.

However, the director says Juba City Council has set up an
investigative committee to establish the exact cause of the fire.
