Youth vow to abandon studies to join SPLA
The Citizen Juba, 13/04/12 - Hundreds of South Sudanese youth
yesterday poured out and marched to the National Assembly and the army
general headquarters in support of seizing Panthou (Heglieg) back from
Sudan and expressed their readiness to abandon studies to join the
SPLA forces in Heglieg for a war of self-defence with Sudan.
“War is the end of politics,” shouted one of the protesting youth in
front of parliament through a loud speaker.
The youth finally marched to SPLA Headquarters to convey to the army
congratulations for seizure of Heglieg and urged for voluntary
recruitment into the army.
“Bravo SPLA,” repeatedly sounded the youth in chorus.
Young energized South Sudanese in unison said the President’s speech
of not withdrawing his troops from the Heglieg oilfield to law makers
was what they came to back up.
“Where was the African Union (AU) when Sudan army entered Abyei last
May?” youth called out.
Deputy Speaker of National Assembly Daniel Awet Akot happily told the
excited youth at the parliament gate that if the Abyei issue is not
solved their forces will not withdraw from Panthou.
“Mobilize yourselves and join with us in the assembly,” said Awet who
said that the military garb will be worn again to take over South
Sudanese territories claimed by Sudan.
“Khartoum’s position is clear … they are not for peace,” stressed Akot
who called on the people to unite in order to defend the country.
