"Our position is we consider the Sudanese public as brothers and
sisters to the people of South Sudan. We don't see them as an enemy,"
Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin, the Information Minister told the press
in Juba on Tuesday.

The Sudanese national parliament on Monday branded South Sudan an
'enemy' state following the SPLA occupation of the oil rich disputed
area of Heglig.

Marial however, blames the decision on some few individuals within the
National Congress Party (NCP).

"We know this decision taken by parliament is by a limited number
within NCP leadership, who are the extremists in that group. They
dragged parliament into this process".

"The citizens of the Republic of South Sudan must know that the
citizens of Sudan who are here who became foreigners as a result of
declaration by Khartoum making our citizens foreigners, are under full
protection of the Republic of South Sudan".

Marial condemned the continuous Sudanese aerial bombardment of the oil fields.

"We would like to condemn very strongly the bombardment of the oil
infrastructure. They have once again hit an oil field outside Heglig.

According to Marial, the Sudan government will be responsible for the
destruction of the infrastructure, saying the air strikes hit well
number five and well number eight.

He went on to say that the government of South Sudan is committed to
see the two countries cooperating economically.
