Global immunization begins on Tuesday

A massive global immunization campaign kicks off on Tuesday 24th
April. The vaccination programme will be against the six killer child
diseases which include Measles, Polio, Tuberculosis, Diphtheria,
Tetnus and Whooping Cough. The campaign will last six days and will be
conducted in a total of one hundred and twelve countries and
territories in the areas of the Americas, Eastern Mediterranean and
Europe.



The immunization week is to promote national and cross-border
activities in a collaborative effort to prevent diseases and save
lives. This is the first time a simultaneous immunization campaign is
being conducted.

Dr. Anthony Laku the director for Expanded Programme on Immunization
(EPI) in the national ministry of Health urged mothers to take their
children for immunization to prevent them from contracting diseases.
