South Sudan welcomes UN/US condemnation

The Government of South Sudan on Tuesday welcomed a statement of the
UN Secretary General and the US government condemning the bombing of
civilian targets and infrastructure in South Sudan territory by the
Sudan Armed Forces.



 Speaking During a weekly press briefing on Tuesday in Juba, the
Minister of information and Broadcasting Barnaba Marial Benjamin,
appreciated the UN condemnation but said it comes a bit late

Marial also called on the government of Sudan to respond to appeals
for border demarcation.

He said South Sudan has never left the negotiation table and is open
to dialogue with Sudan.

In another development, the SPLA spokesman Phillip Aguer Panyang
described his forces as the best ground infantry in the region.

He said, Sudan Armed Forces [SAF] war planes are still bombing SPLA
positions in the South Sudan territory, despite their withdrawal from
Panthou/Heglig.
