BOR, 04 May 2012 –Two Ethiopian and two Dinka businessmen were early
last week killed between Machabol and Kothchar as they transported
their goods to Pibor County.

On the same day, four Murle businessmen were also killed along Bor
road on their way to Pibor.

The chairman of the Ethiopian community in Jonglei State who was only
identified as Abdu said the attacks between Machabol and Kothchar left
four survivors and a ransacked vehicle.

He said those behind the attacks had not been identified but
unconfirmed reports pointed an accusing finger to the Murle community.

“We have no conflicts with any ethnic community in South Sudan. We are
only here to conduct business and nothing else. Hence we wonder why
the attacks were carried out, “said Abdu.

At the same time, the Ethiopian community expressed concerns with the
rising violence in South Sudan, saying the independence of South Sudan
last year was meant to deliver new and lasting peace.
