Fuel shortage in Juba: a deliberate act, says Human Rights Commissioner
Sudan Radio Service Juba, 16/05/12 - The chairman of the Human Rights
Commission has described the shortage of fuel in Juba as a deliberate
act by some business people to affect the economy of the new nation.
Robert Korbandy said that he is convinced there is enough fuel in Juba.
[Robert Korbandy]: “Two or three days back, we have over seventeen
trucks coming in with fuel, and much more are coming. We have seen it
on TV, these trucks entered Juba and then they disappeared somewhere.
You will find that one day a fuel station is opened, and the rest
closed completely, and you can stay there from morning to until
sometime. This is an organized torture to the citizen. The government
should take serious step on that. It is not that fuel is not in town,
fuel is there, but the mechanism of giving it out to the citizen is
very bad.”
