A Member of Parliament in the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) has
urged health authorities and organizations in the country to rescue,
what he named "the pathetic situation of Yei River County Civic
Hospital".

Paul Yuwani Bonju's appeal comes after members of NLA recently visited
the county to assess the conditions of the hospital.

Speaking to Radio Miraya on Saturday, Bonju said that roofs of the
buildings have already rusted and the staff are under paid.

"The staff are not receiving their salary regularly. It appears they
did not receive their April salary. 250 (pounds a month) for somebody
to continue serving in a humanitarian kind of work for 10-15 years was
really a problem," he lamented.

He added: "Besides these irregular salaries, same allowances are not
considered. They are supposed to have infection, house and transport
allowances which is (sic) not paid to them".

According to Bonju, there is a shortage of drugs in the hospital and
staff complained of lack of promotion after serving for a long time.
