Abyei NGOs demand quick security mechanism
Sunday, 20 May 2012 06:47 Lagu Francis South Sudan >>> . Non-Governmental Organizations (NG0s), operating around Agok, south edge of Abyei fear security may deteriorate following the pull-out of the South Sudan Police Service (SSPS). 700 SSPS withdrew from Abyei two weeks ago in compliance with the UN Security Council and the African Union peace plan to end hostilities between Sudan and South Sudan. However, in a statement issued by the UN office for Humanitarian Coordination (UNOCHA), international NGOs are asking for more security. The NGOs want Agok authorities and United Nations Interim Security Force Abyei to provide a mechanism to ensure continued free and safe movement of humanitarian workers. They also demand for mechanism that ensures clear communication for quick security response in times of need. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
