Electricity Corporation receives 300 tons of fuel
Monday, 21 May 2012 06:57 Lagu Francis South Sudan >>> . Parts of Juba have begun enjoying electricity after the government managed to secure fuel to run city generators for at least three weeks. The South Sudan Electricity Corporation (SSEC) says it has sourced about 300 metric tons of fuel to provide power to some parts of Juba. The SSEC chairman of the Electricity Corporation Beck Awan explained to Radio Miraya the reason behind the one month power shortage. "That time we were cut out because of no fuel and not enough spare parts to run it. Recently we managed to procure a little quantity of fuel and that is why we have selected areas in Juba now getting electricity," said Awan. "This may not reach the whole area we would like to supply unfortunately, because the quantity is very small," According to Awan, the government intends to build a hydro-electric power station along the River Nile at Bedan area, some 50 kilometers south of Juba. He further disclosed that the corporation also plans to import electricity from Ethiopia. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
