More than 170 orphans have been affected by flooding in Bor town,
Jonglei State. The children of the Orphans children Trauma and Healing
Center are forced to live and study with water in their classrooms and
living quarters.

The South Sudan Presbyterian Evangelical Church Orphan Children Trauma
and Healing Center was established in February this year to take care
of children whose parents were killed during inter-tribal conflict
clashes between rival community of Lou Nuer and Murle.

The orphanage which is part of the Presbyterian Evangelical Church
accommodates both girls and boys whose parents were killed in
conflict.

The Manager of the center, Peter Yien Reath told Radio Miraya; "Now
our challenge is the flooding that recently happened during heavy
rains. Everything is covered with water; our situation is not good
condition for the kids".

"The problem came as tribal conflict that took place last year on 18
August killed more than 640 people in Pieri Payam. As a church we
moved and collected the orphans whose parents were killed and brought
them to Bor town to avoid conflict".

Thap Chol Thap, an orphan in the center asked the state government to
provide them with education material such as uniforms and shoes.

"I came from Pieri because of conflict. What I know about conflict was
Lou-Nuer and Murle," said Chol.

"I am staying in the center and there are more things which are not
good. So we need uniforms, we need shoes, we have water, we have food
and we have school".
