YEI, 15 May 2012 [Gurtong] –The 49 included 15 female and 34 males
graduands in various fields like electrical installation, auto
mechanics, brick laying, carpentry, joinery and tailoring.

The college’s principal Joyce Sitima said Friday’s group is the eighth
batch of students graduating from the institution since its
establishment in 2004.

She said the students were being sponsored by development partners
including the Institute for the Promotion of Civil Society (IPCS) and
other NGOs like UNHCH, ACROSS and others.

A graduand, Jackline Mosoke Garden who received honours in electrical
installation, termed the occasion her greatest day, adding that she
will soon be confirmed for a job at the Central Equatoria State
Ministry of Public Service.

She encouraged women to take to the profession that has long been
viewed a preserve of men.

The chief guest at the function, Yei Evangelical Church Bishop Hillary
Luate Adeba congratulated the graduands and encouraged them to apply
their skills in enhancing development in South Sudan.

He also appealed to the Ministry of Education Science and Technology
at the state and national levels to prioritise vocational
institutions.
