A consultative forum on the role of women in leadership and peace
building has closed in Juba on Thursday with a call on women to take
more leadership roles in the church as a means of achieving
development.

The 3-day conference, organized by the Sudan Council of Churches
attracted women from Greater Equatoria, Upper Nile and Bahr el Ghazel
States.

Rebecca Yor Toro, a representative from Upper Nile State, said she
intends to share the information gathered during the workshop with the
women in her home area.

"It will help our churches in Malakal because many young women left
formal school and decided to take solutions in heavy drinking and
taking harmful drugs. Especially men has been affected the most," Yor
said.
