The 100-page document is a compilation of data concerning various key issues including poverty levels, health, education, population, agriculture, commerce, finance and political representation. The yearbook names Northern Bahr El Gazal as the most poverty ridden State with a poverty level of 76% of the population. Unity State comes second with a poverty level of 68% while Warrap has a poverty level of 64%. Central Equatoria State, the seat of the National capital comes 7th of the 10 States with 44% and Upper Nile is ranked as the least poor with 26%. The poverty levels were determined by levels of consumption per person. Speaking at the launch in Juba, the Deputy Chairman of the National Bureau of Statistics, John Maciek Acuoth Acol said such statistics are vital for planning and consistency. Two other documents were launched alongside the statistical yearbook. They are the key findings from the 2009 national baseline survey, which details the findings of the survey and the county level poverty estimates which looks at poverty levels in the counties. The reports were produced by the National Bureau of Statistics in collaboration with government institutions and ministries with support from the World Bank, the European Union, the African Development Bank, Statistics Norway and UN agencies such as UNDP, UNFPA and UNICEF. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
