UNOCHA warns of looming heavy rains
Thursday, 12 July 2012 09:10 Lagu Francis South Sudan >>> . The current rainy season could cause floods and eventual food insecurity, the United Nation Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) has warned. A forecast from the Famine Early Warning System Network says western, southern and parts of the Central regions of South Sudan would experience rainfall of 300mm. Forecast predicts that the 300mm rainfall will occur between June and August. UN-OCHA says the above average rains could trigger livestock diseases such as pneumonia and foot and mouth disease. The Humanitarian organization fears the rains would hinder access to markets, eventually leading to food insecurity. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
