Saturday, 14 July 2012 04:17 Lagu Francis South Sudan >>> . The Governor of Jonglei State Kuol Manyang Juuk is touring state counties to assess the progress of the peace agreement signed by the communities that were involved in inter-communal violence last year. Traditional chiefs of the six main communities in Jonglei signed a peace agreement in May to bring to an end the inter-communal clashes. The clashes left hundreds of people dead and thousand of others displaced between December and February this year. Manyang says the tour is also to sensitize the communities on the need for peace to boost development. "What we need after independence is to develop our country. Development can't happen without peace, so we concerned about peace," said Manyang. Manyang started his tour in Pibor where he was shown 20 children who were separated from their families during the clashes and are now ready to return to their homes. On his visit to Uror, the Governor said; "I have come to Uror to see how far the people of Uror are committed to the peace process resolutions that were passed in May". The resolutions of the peace agreement included compliance to disarmament, return of abducted children and improving security among others. He is expected to move to Akobo and Duk counties after Uror. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
