More than 50 killings in Juba in six months
Wednesday, 18 July 2012 08:32 Mabior Mach South Sudan >>> . The Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO), said it recorded more than 50 incidents of killings in South Sudan's capital, Juba, within the last six months. "Out of the fifty cases of incidents we have twenty seven cases where the citizens accuse or suspect that the people are in police uniform so they suspect they are members of police service in South Sudan, but we are trying to clarify to the committee that we need more investigation rather than drawing conclusion that our police are involved," CEPO program coordinator, Edmond Yakani , said after presenting the findings to the national parliamentary committee on Defense and Public Order on Wednesday. This finding was from a research that CEPO, a local organization dealing on human rights and governance, conducted in Gudele, Munuki, Loguilili, Nyakuron, Kator and Rejaf suburbs in Juba. CEPO is planning to conduct joint research with the human rights commission to determine who is responsible for the killings, Edmond said. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
