Talks between government and JEM start today in Doha
Sudanese Media Center Khartoum, 26/11/2012 – Talks between the
government and Justice and Equality (JEM) led by Mohammed Bashar start
today in Doha, Qatar.
Official spokesman of JEM Ali Wafi said in a statement to Sudan Vision
from Doha that these talks come as part of the earlier talks between
the government and the JEM where a ceasefire and cease of hostilities
agreement was signed.
He added: "The talks were scheduled to start on November 22nd but were
postponed due to the circumstances JEM was going through represented
in the continuance of its general convention."
It is worth mentioning that the Military Council of JEM had recently
removed Jibreel Ibrahim from JEM's leadership and the general
convention of the movement has chosen Mohammed Bashar who had earlier
signed a cease of hostilities agreement with the Sudanese government
in Doha and promised to engage in negotiations with the government to
resolve all different dossiers.
