JUBA, 25 February 2013 [Gurtong]- The workshop is set under the theme
“Using a better understanding context to meet current challenges and
build a more responsive approach to education in South Sudan within
the frame work of the Naivasha conference action plan.”

According to Kuol Atem Bol, the acting Director General for
Alternative Education, the workshop is set to ensure that peace
education is included as a component in all the subjects.

This comes after the Naivasha International conference on Peace
Education the was held from 4th to 6th December last year for post
conflict countries.

“Peace education is very important for our generation because
especially if it is masterminded in the national curriculum so that
children grow in peaceful environment,” he said.

He added that the move is to ensure peace where children will not talk
about themselves in terms of tribes to create a generation that will
love each other for peaceful coexistence.

“We are saying that peace education should be included in all the
subjects of the national school curriculum,” Atem said.
