Lakes State SPLM Finance Director Sacked
Lakes State Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Acting Secretary Mabor Ater Dhuol has sacked the state party Director of Finance and Administration. 23 March 2013 By Gabriel Mayom RUMBEK, 22 March 2013 [Gurtong] –Andrew Macuor Romdhel was dismissed on Wednesday by SPLM Lakes state Acting Secretary and the office was seized immediately by the National Intelligence Services (NIS). Romdhel was accused of not cooperating with the new Acting Secretary of the party in Rumbek and allegedly having leaked out a list of 38 SPLM members to be appointed by Lakes State Caretaker Governor in various positions of advisory, ministerial and commissioners. Romdhel strongly denied the allegations and counter accused the state Acting Secretary for dismissing everyone who objected his appointment last year. “I have not send any document that indicated 38 members of SPLM seeking political position, my work is to administer things related to money and administrative related issues,” said Romdhel. SPLM officials boycotted Rumbek swearing in ceremony for acting secretary general in February. Dhuol was sworn into office in a ceremony boycotted by the county secretaries, state Liberation Council members and SPLM assistant secretaries. The party officials were divided following the controversial appointment of Dhuol as the Acting Secretary in September 2012 by the State SPLM Chairman. The appointment was objected by State Liberation Council and termed as unlawfully decision taken by state party chairperson. In October last year, Lakes State Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) had rejected the appointment of Mabor Ater Dhuol as Acting Secretary. Eight county secretariat heads rejected the appointment terming it as unlawful according to the party constitution. Akot controversially appointed Mabor Ater Dhuol, replacing Samuel Mathiang Keer as the state party acting secretary.
