The two young Congolese women with a young son of the LRA leader named Joseph Opio Kony confirmed being wives of Kony and they said they came in search of food for their forces. The two ladies said they underwent many challenges while in the bush with Kony, saying they travelled as far as Darfur where they said another home of Kony is. In the six years they have been wandering in the thick bush of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Central Africa Republic and the Republic of South Sudan. They also said the Janjanweed militia backed by Khartoum government also helps them with food and clothing. Mibinina Kumboringi, one of the wives said she was captured by Kony’s men six years ago in the Democratic Republic of Congo. According to Kumboringi, when she was captured they (LRA) gave her some magical herbs that made her very wild and could not hesitate killing human beings. She said when captured by LRA, one is forced to know how to speak Acholi dialect so that they understand instructions easily. Mingere Nagbakpio is the other wife and said Opio is not her own child but was given by Kony after killing the real mother last year. She said in the bush, they rely on wild yams and meat from the animals in the bush. She noted that they have been to Darfur also where they get their food from and other things like clothing, which Kony buys for the women from Darfur. She further explained that the Janjanweed Militia in Darfur helps them in fighting, provision of food and other necessities. According to Nagbakpio, Kony has a big home in Darfur and in the Central Africa Republic where he last week. Nagbakpio revealed that in case of any mistake, a person is both beaten and left or sometimes beaten to death. The training according to her is only for brutal killing of people. She also said they suffered so much and walked thousands of miles without complaints and if one complains he or she is immediately killed. “We came from Darfur, one group went to Central Africa and our group was tasked to come to South Sudan to loot food to feed the forces who are in the bush,” said Nagbakpio. They are happy they have been rescued from that situation and they call on the World Food Program to assist them with food items and utensils to help them and reunite them with their families they have missed for so long a time. The two ladies are aged between 19 and 20 years. The acting governor of Western Equatoria State Hon. Sapana Abui hailed the Arrow boys and security forces in Tombura County for rescued these ladies whom he said have suffered against their will. The Acting governor says the state government will inform the Red Cross Society to see how they could be re-united with their families.
