 Saturday, 20 April 2013 14:22 |

A group of over 30 children from Lorema are reported to have walked a
distance of over 33 kilometres to Chukudum and Nagishot for safety
after their village was rocked by armed violence between the army and
armed civilians.

Radio Emmanuel learnt that the children escaped from the violent
Tuesday clash that claimed five lives of civilians and security forces
in Lorema, Budi County of Eastern Equatoria state.

According to the report, people abandoned their homes in Lorema and
Kikilai villages, taking refuge in the surrounding hills after the
violent confrontation.

Some parents separated from their children and families continue
searching for missing members.

Among the dead was a nurse working at a health centre belonging to the
catholic diocese of Torit in Lorema.

A child and two women who were inside the clinic at the time of the
clash got bullet wounds as soldiers targeted the health post for no
apparent reason.
