The reopening of borders to trade has brought down the price of fuel
in Western Bahr El Ghazal but transport charges remains high.

Retailers sell 1.5 litter bottles of petrol for 11 Pounds, four pounds
cheaper, while prices at the petrol stations remain at eight pounds
per litter.

Fuel dealer Jabior Omda Adam explained to Voice of Hope that the
re-opening of the border between Sudan and South Sudan brought prices
down.

He added as the supply from Khartoum increases prices will keep on falling.

Passengers complained that the fuel price reduction did no affect
transport charges.

Driver Deng Manut Akot said fares remained high because the roads were
very bad and they needed to replace spare parts frequently.

He added that there are too many blocks along the roads and drivers
have to pay 30 pounds at each one.

Transport fees from Wau to Juba stand at 350 pounds, to Yirol at 250,
to Rumbek at 200 and to Tonj at 150.

A flight from Wau to Juba ranges from 450 to 570 pounds.
