YAMBIO, 25 April 2013 [Gurtong] -Martin Mizere said the bridge has
made their children not to go to school for the last two weeks.

Baguga is one of the Bomas in Yambio County along Nzara road due to
the breakage of the bridge it has also hindered the access to the
Bagagu Farmers Association from reaching the market with their farm
product.

“ We cannot wait for the state government to come down to help us, we
have started if they want they will get us ahead but I have to thank
Nelson Abas for his commitment with the community of Baguga,” he said.

Nelson Abas who is a local contractor in the county stressed there is
need to help out fix the feeder roads especially those that lead to
farmers association in the county since they keep the food security at
ease.

Nelson said he has helped the boys who are volunteering in
constructing the broken bridge with food and the tools to make the
work easy and fast since it is rainy season and to allow the kids
continue going for their studies adding that road is development
without roads and good bridges you may have enough food then how do
you transport them for access to the market.

Nelson added that Babuga community has not received any access to
service from the state government since because no car could cross due
to the bridge conditions.

He further said the government policy is to extend services to the
community due to the current situation now in the country the
government is not able to delivery and even maintain roads. He also
stressed that poor roads brings insecurity to the community because
that is where you can see criminals very activity as they know
police cannot follow them on bad roads adding that access to health
services is quiet another challenge to the community.

Finally he urged the youth to join hands with those who have started
the bridge construction and stop the thinking that government is the
one using the roads they should be the one to repair as it is
hindering their own children from going to school.
