[Petia Suliman Loro] By Petia Suliman Loro YEI, 27 April 2013 [Gurtong] – Yei River County Commissioner Juma David Augustine received the five chiefs in his office in Yei after the release. The chiefs were accompanied by the members of the security from Juba who officially handed them over to the commissioner. The chiefs released include, Peter Said Murjan, Peter Aringu Guya, Ishmael Luate, Abel Sebit and Fustino Aligo Taligi. Thomas Wani Lubadinya the Chairman Kakwa Community and Aligo Manoah the former politician are still under detention by the government until the investigations are completed. In a letter presented to the commissioner of Yei River County from the investigating committee, the five chiefs released will be called at any time to Juba for questioning or answering. The chiefs released are all in good health and Juma encouraged the chiefs to resume their normal official duties in their various responsibilities. He urged the chiefs to keep a distance from anything that involves politics that may endanger their lives. Juma also advised the Kakwa community in Yei to avoid getting involved in the politics of Yei Town Payam. He told the chiefs to take the right message to the communities of Yei River County since there were allegations that he was the one who accused the Chiefs to the National security. Peter Said Murjan, the Paramount chief of Yei River County and one of the released chiefs thanked the Governor of Central Equatoria State for forming the investigating committee to investigate them and which led to their release. He expressed disappointment over the way how the people of Yei Town Payam reacted to the presence of governor during the meeting with the chiefs, members of Parliament, church leaders, youth and women at ECS Guest house this week. Peter denounced the allegation that they were beaten, mistreated and abused by the members of the security. “I want to denounce the allegation that we were being mistreated and abused by the security, which is a lair. We could order for chicken and anything that we wanted, and they were given to us,” said Peter. Peter said, they want peace to exist in Yei County as they are tired of war. He confirmed that the chiefs have no problem with the county commissioner, but feared the person who wrote their names and submitted to the national security that they support the rebels in DR Congo. The five chiefs plus Chairman Kakwa Community and the former politician were arrested last week by the security organs alleged to be supporting the M23 rebels fighting the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Their arrest almost caused the Kakwa communities all over the country to go on peaceful demonstration. On Wednesday, the Governor of Central Equatoria State Major General Clement Wani Konga met with the Sub chiefs, Members of Parliament, Councillors, church leaders, women and youth to enlighten them on the reasons that led to the arrest of the five chiefs and other members. Clement said the chiefs will be investigated, those found guilty will face the courts of law and those who will be found innocent will be released.
