JUBA – 17 May 2013 [Gurtong] -Implementation of laws however remains a
challenge to the state government. The parliamentarians had broken for
recess to visit their constituencies and acquaint themselves with the
general issues in their communities.

Opened under the theme “Work towards Realizing Peace, united and
Prosperous State,” Hon. Naphtali Hassan Gale, the Speaker of the state
parliament said MPs will be involved in more work compared to the
previous sessions this time.

Investigations into cases tabled already and are now with committees
and legislation of more laws will be their eminent role.

“This session is going to be busier. Therefore, you-MPs are expected
to be in full attendance and on time to make the House live up to its
expectation,” Hassan said.

He had also urged the MPs to double efforts in their work to ensure
the House plays its noble role of checking the anomalies in the state.

Meanwhile in his speech read to the legislators by the Deputy Governor
Manasseh Lomole, the CES Governor Clement Wani Konga urged the
parliament to fully concentrate on enacting laws.

“I take this opportunity to inform this August House that the work
ahead of you is indeed very demanding which requires commitment,
concentration and involving consultations and research,” Konga said.

Among some of the key issues the parliament to concentrate are policy
documents of various ministries, state budget for 2013/2014,
legislation of very important bills from the various State
Institutions and Private Members’ Bills.
