.
(22nd May, 2013) - Authorities in Rubkona County of Unity State are
raising concern about the existence of land mines in Kaljak Payam.

Speaking to Radio Miraya the payam administrator, Charles Mut Babur
says mines exist mainly by the river side in Boitong area.
Mut said many of the mines were remnants from the Sudan civil war.
He is appealing to the government to help clear the area of mines,
also known as UXOs (unexploded ordinances).
“My message goes to the state authority that we have a problem in
Boitong along the river Nile.”
In 2010, the landmines killed 3, he said.
