We are still working with them in a diplomatic way. It’s not we who are going to shut the oil production; it is they (Sudan) who have started,” Kiir said. President Kiir said that the Sudanese Foreign Affairs Minister was sent to him on Friday by his counterpart Omar Al Bashir over the issue of Sudanese rebels. He however distanced him from it and said that the accusations are baseless and described it as a challenge. Meanwhile, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin has said that the oil has been flowing normally and that it has been reaching Jebelin in Sudan. “We can assure you that oil can continue to flow,” he said. The minister said that the P2 was not opened until yesterday and that it will be opened today. He explained that it was a matter of switching the valve on. The South Sudanese Minister of Petroleum and Mining, Stephen Dhieu Dau has travelled to Khartoum to meet his Sudanese counterpart over the issue of reported blockage in Jebelin that has risen fears of possible oil shutdown in the eyes of president Kiir who summoned an urgent extraordinary council of ministers meeting that included advisors, negotiating team and leadership of the national parliament. Recently the Chinese ambassador to South Sudan was summoned over issues of oil flow.
