*JUBA, 19 November 2013 [Gurtong] -* The two were summoned last week by the
Parliament after announcing a decision that devalued the South Sudanese
Pounds.

Kornelio appeared before the August House last week since Tisa was away.

Parliament grilled the Governor until he was made to revoke the decision
which the parliamentarians said “cannot work” though he could not explain
the reason as to why the decision was taken, saying they took the move
together with the Finance Minister and parliament can only be explained the
move by the two when present.

The two senior government officials were expected to appear yester-morning
before the MPs according to a ruling passed last week based on the
resolutions of the parliamentarians.

The parliament leadership decided to abruptly announce for the cancellation
of the sitting until further notice and decided to convene an SPLM Caucus
meeting.

The two financial institutions devalued the currency by increasing $1
dollar to 4.50 South Sudanese Pounds from 2.9 South Sudanese Pounds
previously.

Kornelio Koryom then explained in a circular released that the move is
aimed at bettering the economy of the fledgling nation.

However, public seemed to be not convinced on the reasons for the
devaluation, since explanation as what compelled the move was not outlined.
