*South Sudan Catholic Bishops urged the governments of South Sudan and
Sudan to implement cooperation agreements signed in September last year to
improve ties and enable citizens to realize development.*

Yei Catholic Bishop Erkulano Lodu told the congregation on Sunday after his
return from Juba that if neighbours do not live together they are always
astray to peace, Easter Radio reported.

He added that the bishops called for collective resolutions to Jonglei
conflict for the nation to have a total peace.

Bishop Lodu said Catholic Bishops were concerned with tense situations in
Darfur, Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile.

He said the Bishops called for fruitful peace negotiations to end the
conflict in the regions.

Bishop Lodu said the bishops wanted free access of humanitarian assistance
to people of the three regions in Sudan.

The prelate said South Sudan Catholic Bishops urged the government of Sudan
to allow humanitarian assistance to the people in need.

Bishop Lodu clarified that the Bishops were aware of the situation of the
people of Abyei following their recently “unilateral referendum”.

He said they observed that nobody was listening to the interest of Dinka
Ngok community and that Abyei was being mistreated while concerned people
were silent.

Bishop Lodu said Catholic Bishops called on concern people including the
international community to listen to aspirations of the Abyei people.

He said if the international community did not listened to the people of
South Sudan, the nation would have not achieved its independence.

The Bishop made these statements on Sunday while presiding over Eucharistic
celebration at Christ the King Cathedral in Yei.
