*AWEIL, 9 February 2014 (Gurtong) -*The call came from the Annual General
Meeting of the Women Association in the state over the weekend. The women
were concerned of the current political unrest in the country.

Raising the concern on behalf of the women, Monica Mawien, the
Association's General Secretary confirmed their support to the recent
ceasefire agreement. She said they as mothers in Northern Bahr el Ghazal
state have fully welcomed the decision to amicably solve the disputes
between rebels and government.

"We are deeply concerned about the losses which occurred within us. We are
not fans of war but of peace," she said.

"We are tired of 21 years of civil war between Sudan and South Sudan nine
years ago. This time should be for peaceful coexistence among southerners."

She blamed a few individuals within rebel groups of having misled fellow
citizens into a 'senseless war'.

"If we feel like ourselves on tribal or political interest, then we are
dragging our children and youth into baseless war and internal conflict of
nonsense. We should put aside our differences and stick together as people
of one nation with one tribe-South Sudan," she appealed.

"If we say we are peaceful here in Aweil and we ignore other people's
problem within the same country, then that sounds meaningless. This must be
preached and imitated."
