*JUBA, 13 February 2014 [Gurtong] - *"Due to the current political
situation in the country, we appeal to the general public, through the Hon.
August House, that it is necessary for each one of us to stay alert because
the current political
situation in the country is not very stable," Ms Malek said during the
opening of the state legislative assembly on Wed.

The governor urged the public to put aside their internal political
differences and concentrate on promoting peace and mobilize the civilians
to protect their lives and property.

"For your information, the rebels in Unity State do not care about our
internal differences; they are coming to Warrap State to destroy our
property and kill innocent civilians," she said.

"More particularly, we the people of Warrap State are expected to abandon
internal political differences and to be united and focus on seeking
solutions to the current security threats from the rebels in the
neighbouring Unity State."

Ms Malek made a humble call to the public to maintain unity and ensure that
the people are not distracted from this important mission.

"Already, the state government is doing the sensitization it can to make
sure that the civilians are well informed about the current development in
the politics of our country."

Warrap state politicians recently differed when the governor appointed her
new cabinet without cooperating with State Parliament and the SPLM Acting
Chairperson in Kuacjok.
