*WAU, 14 Feb 2014 [Gurtong] - *The State Police Commissioner Maj. Gen. Akot
Deng Akot told Journalists during a press conference at Wau police
headquarters on Friday that they are holding six suspects; a Syrian,
Sudanese and four South Sudanese in possession of fake US$1,200 and more
than SSP1, 000.

Akot said the police were unable to impound the minting machine and ink
used by the suspects though investigation is still ongoing.

The police commissioner lamented that the violence which erupted in Juba
have sent out most criminals practicing illegal lucrative business ventures
to other states.

"I want to tell the people in Wau that there is an influx of criminals from
different areas of South Sudan especially from Juba," he said. "So, you
should be very careful to detect fake currency both dollars and local
pounds."

He said police in WBGS are committed to getting rid of such criminal
elements out from the state, warning that those arrested will face the law.

According to him, the police are in a search of other suspects who are
still hiding. He called on the public to report any case of fake notes in
circulation in the market..

Police in the state are teaming up for a crackdown operation on different
criminal elements, which they say are building up in the state.

Since violence the broke out in the country security in WBGS remained calm
and became a home town for most of the citizens fleeing violence from other
neighboring states.
