By AriikAtekdit *JUBA, 22 February 2014 [Gurtong] -* A member of the committee, Ustaz Lewis Anei Kuendit said the Mobilization and Awareness Creation Committee is a branch of thenational Crisis Management Committee (CMC) formed by President Salva Kiir after the outbreak of fighting in South Sudan's Capital Juba, last December. Kuendit has said they are educating the citizens with the 'accurate' information that the rebellion against the government in South Sudanis not on tribal disputes but rather a political power struggle. He accused Dr. Machar of having campaigned for Nuer community's support based on tribalism, forgetting that he was mounting a coup against the legitimate Juba government. "It was a foiled "Coup attempt" that has happened in Juba. It was not wise for Riek to form an uprising with community support. This is not the first coup to happen in the world. Many coups have occurred and failed and there should be no need to take this destructive battling over power," Kuendit advised. "We are telling our citizens regardless of their tribal lines that the crisis in the country is not a tribal war as it has been alleged by Dr. Riek Machar just to get tribal backup on false bases." Ustaz Kuendit said local population should not feel unsafe in the government controlled areas everywhere in South Sudan because of theirtribal status. He said a couple of citizens have returned to Rubkona and Bentiu after the defeat of the rebel forces and they are being protected by their government's security officers there, adding that Bentiu is relativelycalm." Out of the nine counties in Unity State, eight counties are already under the government forces with exception of Panyjiar County. According to Kuendit, the committee will tour all the eight counties under government control. He said the committee will be distributing the same message of peace, reconciliation and cessation of tribal war across the states. Kuendit says Dr. Riek's supporters should stop war and rather supporthim during the upcoming elections in 2015.
