*TORIT, 04 June 2015 [Gurtong]* -FAO is currently taking the lead in
distributing seeds among 26,000 households in the state. Other partners
include Plan International, Cord Aid, Action for Rural Development and
Community Development Support Service.

A meeting held Tuesday confirmed that the seeds being distributed include
crop seeds such as sorghum, maize, sesame, groundnuts, cowpeas, as well as
vegetables and agricultural hand tools.

Fishing kits, livestock drugs and vaccines have also been distributed to
beneficiaries.

The Eastern Equatoria State Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development
Minister Clement Laku Chichim has commended FAO for the initiative, which
he said was aimed at addressing the biting hunger.

He called upon the state residents to show appreciation through working
hard on their farms.
