Wau Attack Blamed on Locals ..Wau County Commissioner Elia Kamilio Dimo told Gurtong the attack was the work of local residents, whom he claimed blamed outsiders in view of the ongoing conflict in South Sudan. 08 June 2015
By James Deng Dimo *WAU, 07 June 2015 [Gurtong] *–Last Sunday’s attack on Bazia Payam in Wau County has been blamed on insider activities. Wau County Commissioner Elia Kamilio Dimo told Gurtong the attack was the work of local residents, whom he claimed blamed outsiders in view of the ongoing conflict in South Sudan. Two people were killed and two commercial trucks arriving from Western Equatoria were looted in the dawn attack. “The leaders of these militia groups are just within Wau town and the attack had nothing to do with rebels from outside. We have reliable information that the rebellion is being run by some Wau County youth known as Wau Pimalu”, said Dimo at a security consultative meeting organised by the community on Friday. He claimed that certain forces within Wau County were receiving external support to press for the relocation of the county headquarters from Wau to Bagari. He called for collective efforts by all communities in the county to address the issue. Just this week, the state authorities cautioned local communities against concealing information and activities of rebels in the area. The State Minister of Local Government Angelo Taban Baijo also urged locals to provide information about any suspicious forces in the area. * Six killed* Meanwhile, six South Sudanese soldiers were killed last weekend by militias in Raga County in Western Bahr el Ghazal state. The incident took place at Ramala village in Timsah Payam in the west of Raga town. Raga County Commissioner James Benjamin confirmed the incident. “We have reliable information that those behind the killings are Sudanese Rizeigat tribe militia who ambushed our forces”, he said. According other officials from the County, the SPLA forces were mistakenly ambushed by the militias after cattle belonging to the Arab Rizeigat were stolen by another tribe inside Habbaniya village. The Commissioner said consultations were made with Eastern Darfur authorities on the matter. ------------------------------ [image: Bookmark and Share] <https://www.addthis.com/bookmark.php?v=250&pub=xa-4a8952f0662ccc6f> Posted in: Home <http://www.gurtong.net/ECM/Editorial/tabid/124/ctl/CategoryView/mid/519/categoryId/1/Home.aspx> -- To post to this group, send email to [email protected] To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [email protected] Visit this group at https://groups.google.com/d/forum/southsudankob View this message at https://groups.google.com/d/msg/southsudankob/topic-id/message-id For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/d/optout --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
