By Gabriel Mayom *RUMBEK, 8 June 2015 [Gurtong] *–In an ongoing random shooting, in Maridi town, Cueirial Akech, chairman of Dinka traders say that the clashes erupted midnight of Sunday when unknown persons threw a hand- grenade into the cattle camp killing seven cows on spot. He said that a police case has been opened for the state government to identify who committed the act. One person has also been reported to have been killed during the clash as the owners of the cows tried to fight back the attackers. Akech explained that “It is very sad indeed a group ambushed us on the road and started firing at us, killing one person and now we are fighting for self-defence.” However, the County Executive Director, John Ezekias Paul, says the shooting followed a grenade attack on a cattle camp last night at Sika-Rumbek. He however did not disclose who the attackers were. John Ezekias confirmed the death of one person saying that “One person has been killed in a random shooting this morning in Maridi County in Western Equatoria State.” Residents in Maridi are fleeing the area due to the tension that is building up in the area. Meanwhile markets have been closed and some houses burnt down. ------------------------------ [image: Bookmark and Share] <https://www.addthis.com/bookmark.php?v=250&pub=xa-4a8952f0662ccc6f> Posted in: Home <http://www.gurtong.net/ECM/Editorial/tabid/124/ctl/CategoryView/mid/519/categoryId/1/Home.aspx> -- To post to this group, send email to [email protected] To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [email protected] Visit this group at https://groups.google.com/d/forum/southsudankob View this message at https://groups.google.com/d/msg/southsudankob/topic-id/message-id For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/d/optout --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
