* RUMBEK, June 23, 2015 [Gurtong]*- The violence sparked when some youths
from Acok stormed the police station and clashed with the police leading to
gunshots being fired by the police to prevent the attack.

The youth group says that the police had unfairly arrested one of them
after they clashed with the Awan clan last Friday.

A Police officer in Aluakluak, Makeny Aciek said that “clashes between the
two clans of Awan and Acok clans of Yirol west of lakes State County on
Friday left at least four people dead from both sides.”

The Acok clan has often had conflicts with their sub-clan of Awan.

In 2012 clashes erupted in Amack cattle camp between Acok and Awan clan
that left several dead.
