*United Nations or UN Undersecretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordination says he has witnessed horrors of South Sudanese in Bentiu, Unity State experiencing oppression and fear.* Stephen O’Brien recommends a proper judicial system with complete capacity and independence to be established to achieve justice and accountability by exposing and prosecuting human rights abusers. He tells news conference in Juba on Saturday that without proper investigation and justice, the rule of law in a democratic society is still far from South Sudan. The UN Undersecretary reiterates that 4.6 million South Sudanese are at risk of severe food insecurity, calling on warring parties to forge a sustainable political peace deal to end the worsening crisis and untold suffering. He appreciates humanitarian agencies for continuous support to South Sudan, but alarms that there is still a billion dollars’ shortage of funding to save the nation. Undersecretary O’Brien says the level of South Sudanese needs is higher than ever. - See more at: http://catholicradionetwork.org/?q=node/18329#sthash.buTQBLCq.dpuf -- To post to this group, send email to [email protected] To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [email protected] Visit this group at https://groups.google.com/d/forum/southsudankob View this message at https://groups.google.com/d/msg/southsudankob/topic-id/message-id For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/d/optout --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
