SPLA accused of stealing cattle and burning homes in Koch County

KOCH (19 Dec.)

SPLA forces attacked several villages in Koch County in South Sudan’s Unity
State over the last two days, stealing cattle and burning dozens of houses,
according to a spokesman for the armed opposition in the area.

SPLA-IO spokesperson in Unity State James Yoach told Radio Tamazuj
yesterday that the government army and its allied militias came and
attacked several areas in Koch County on Saturday.

"The SPLA forces in Unity state and their allied militias came and attacked
several areas under our control in Koch County, so the attack took place on
Saturday morning," said Yoach.

He accused the government army of stealing many cattle and burning
citizen’s houses in those areas during the attacks. The rebel official
pointed out that the attacks forced many local residents to flee their
homes amid harsh humanitarian conditions, saying the attacks continued for
two days in the county.

Radio Tamazuj could not reach SPLA officers in the area to comment on the
matter.
