Presidency revisits national dialogue committee members

JUBA (15 Mar.)

South Sudan’s Vice President, James Wani Igga, said the presidency has
decided to revisit the members of the national dialogue steering committee.

In December 2016, President Kiir appointed more than 30 eminent persons as
members to the dialogue committee. He also appointed the retired Catholic
Bishop Paride Taban and former Sudanese Second Vice President Moses Machar
as co-chairpersons to the committee, but the bishop resigned recently.

Speaking to reporters after a joint meeting at the State House today, Igga
said they have already made some changes on the list. “So, the revisited
list will come out in a decree, in another decree of the President in any
of these days,” he said.

Separately, the top official pointed out that they also discussed the issue
of cantonment sites for the SPLA-IO forces allied to the incumbent First
Vice President Taban Deng Gai.“I think the steps being taken are
progressing well although they are slow indeed, but they are definitely
progressing well,” he said.
