SPLM-IO downplays defections by its members in Fashoda FASHODA (15 Mar.) The SPLM-IO faction allied to former first vice president Riek Machar has downplayed recent defections by some of its members in Fashoda State. Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, Morris Orach, the Information Minister in the rebel-controlled area in Fashoda, said a group of eight members led by Abdullah Kur and Gen. Morris decided to defect to the incumbent First Vice President Taban Deng. He pointed out that the group wanted its own personal interest.
